What is collagen?
Collagen is a protein that is an integral part of connective tissue, including the skin. It is responsible for the strength and elasticity of the tissues, for the youthful appearance of the skin. The elasticity and smoothness of the skin is ensured by the fact that the collagen fibers have the ability to stretch and then restore their original shape.
With age, collagen production decreases and the skin loses its elasticity.
The word "collagen" is of Greek origin. " "Cola" means glue, and "gene" means production.
Collagen - is a structural protein that builds connective tissue and fills the space between muscles (muscle fibers) and cells.
Connective tissue is formed by the intertwining of collagen fibers and their connections. The collagen molecule has a spiral shape composed of three chains. Each chain of the molecule consists of 300 amino acids that form a protein, and the triple intertwined strands form the collagen molecule. Its length is 300 nm and diameter is 1.5 nM.
